Count Your Blessings

Be glad for this respite during winter

when a break in the grey

invites a ray

or two

And you can see clearly for just a moment

Enough

to count your blessings.

This is the time to look directly at the eclipse

and the sun and the moon and the earth

share the same space

for just a moment

in time.

Winter days hurry to make their way home

And unburden themselves

unlayering

first the boots, then the down, and last the hat

lay pooled in the entryway.
